August 2010
This is a beautiful morning with clear, blue skies and cool temperatures. Off we go into the mountains with our destination Newcomb's Ranch Restaurant in Mt. Wilson, CA. We rode up Highway 18 - Waterman Canyon enjoying the sun coming through the many pine trees lining the curving road as we traveled to Silverwood Lake via the 138. You could smell the pine trees and damp earth as we traveled the road by Silverwood Lake. Hardly anyone was around with the exception of a few cyclists or the occasional car.
We crossed over the 15 freeway and stopped at the gas station at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 138. Once everyone fueled up and had a break we were off to Wrightwood. We traveled West on Lone Pine Canyon which was beautiful. The views were spectacular with every turn in the road.
We rode past the many ski areas of Wrightwood all of which looked like ghost towns waiting to have the snow come once again. We traveled on Highway 2 through Wrightwood climbing higher until we reached Newcomb's Ranch to have lunch.
Newcomb's Ranch was ready for us with our own private room and plenty of seating. The wait staff was very efficient in serving us our lunch. We had many great choices and the food was great. Newcomb's Ranch offered a small gift shop selling t-shirts, hats, candy, gum and etc. for those that wanted a little something to take home with them. The restaurant had many pictures taken of their recent snowstorms that covered their restaurant and local area. They had a great topographical map hanging in the hallway which gave you a clear understanding of where you were and the elevation around you. The best part was that it had all the road and highway names that curved in and out of the mountains. We weren't the only ones studying the map! It sure was a great map for possible rides! Outside the restaurant we enjoyed looking at all the many bikes that were parked in the parking lot. We started on our way home through the wonderful scenery and curving road as we rode down the mountains. This was a great ride with many beautiful roads that curved in and out of the forest.

July 2010
This month’s ride was to San Juan Capistrano. This was a first time ride for the club, and it was a fun ride. There was a lot to see there and of course we were close to the beach for those that wanted to go to the water. The weather was great and the group enjoyed a relaxing pace both going and returning home.
June 2010
This month’s ride was to Mount Baldy via highway 39. This was a fun, scenic, very twisty ride where you’re top speed on the road once there is 30 mph. With the lower clouds and some higher fog the scenery was great. The flowers were in bloom and the hills were green. We had lunch at the Baldy Lodge and returned via the 210 freeway. Everyone really loved this ride, look for it again.
Memorial Day 2010
This was the West Coast Thunder ride from Skip Fordyce. We met at 4:30AM at Bob’s Big Boy in Calimesa and departed at 5AM. The route was new this year ending at Soboba Casino; this was a fun event as you did not have to leave one point to go to the events following. This was a moving day for most with a great opening ceremony followed by the escorted ride where people line the streets waiving flags. The entire route including the 215 and 60 freeways were shut down. Everyone had a great time and the weather was good.
June 5th
This was the day for our club to support the annual Cherry Festival Parade. Meeting time was 9A at my house. We staged at 9:45A headed to the parade start point. This was a good year for riding; once we started we never stopped until the end. We took another first place in this event and everyone there had fun including those lining the route waving flags and hands.
